The region's main port

Akport Tekirdağ Port is a model port complex with its up to date equipment and experienced staff with a total area of 130.000 m2 , dock length of 2.000 m , and with an annual capacity 3.000.000 tons bulk cargo and 250.000 containers.

Akkök Group took over Tekirdağ Port from privatization more than ten years ago and has developed this facility seems to be a small wharf at the beginning to a modern port with high capacity serving as the main port of the region.
The provided services in port are briefly as follows:

* Charging/discharging services for Bulk Cargo/ General Cargo.
* Container Charging/discharging services
* Ro-Ro transportation between Tekirdağ-South Marmara
* Pilotage and Tugboat Services
* Storage services
* Bunker Fuel service ( Fuel Sales exempted from Special Consumption Tax)

2008: New Contracts and Intensive Construction Works

Expanding business volume with new contracts and intensive construction works took place at the focus point of 2008 year's activities of Akport.

A contract is executed on container services with Arkas Company in April month of 2008. by the execution of this contract, at first stage Emes and Tarros lines operating in connection with this company started to touch to Akport.
A contract is executed with BKT Ro-Ro Company to provide port services to Ro-Ro vessels to operate between Tekirdağ- Trieste in mid of the year. The sails from port will be started soon.

Contracts are executed with companies operating under London Metal Exchange. The commodities belong to these companies started to arrive port by the mid of 2008.

Investments:

1-) Second phase terminal investment which is projected to be completed at the end of 2009 year is initiated. When the construction is completed, the port will have wharf with a total length of 2 km and terminal area of 130 decares with the addition of -14 meters draft and 700 meters long wharf and 20 decares terminal. 55% of total construction is completed up to day. A part of 200 meters of our construction will start to serve by July 2009.

2-) The railway line between Tekirdağ- Muratlı whose building will soon completed will become operational by June 2009. In connection with this, the construction of wharf and ramp for the berth of Ro-Ro vessels is commenced. When the railway reached to our port and the ramp building is completed, the Ro-Ro vessels transporting wagons between Tekirdağ-Derince and Tekirdağ-Bandırma will start to work. Transportation of 55.000 wagons is targeted yearly.
The building is started at the beginning of February and will be completed by the end of July.
